NICKY'S PARK
Nicky's Park, founded in 2006, was a conservation project between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Town of Provincetown, the Wells family and the Provincetown Theatre Foundation, Inc.
This is the only site in southeastern Massachusetts where the bog twayblade orchid can be found.
Nicky's Park is a sanctuary consisting of nearly four acres, half wooded and half wetland. The primary wetland area is Jimmy's Pond, reached by a short trail from Harry Kemp Way on the east, and by another, hillier trail from Hawthorne Park to an overlook on the west.
The Pond is a shallow, acidic body of water surrounded by blueberry shrub and red maple swamp, a type of land threatened and ecologically essential for rare plants and animals.
