Our Protected Lands

The Provincetown Conservation Trust owns and manages over 60 acres of wetlands, woodlands, and other delicate land which is critical to keeping Provincetown’s vibrant and diverse ecosystems protected. You can spot Conservation Trust protected lands by our signs we have placed on each of the properties. See below for more details around some of our protected lands.

Conservation Land 1

790 Commercial Street
This 1.49 acre Maple Swamp Bird Sanctuary was acquired by the Provincetown Conservation Trust in May of 2016.

Conservation Land 2

8 Thistlemore Road
This 1.39 acre parcel was donated to the Provincetown Conservation Trust in December of 1981 by the Helm Realty, President Joshua Nickerson. The property is part of a wetland that contains White Cedar trees. Provincetown is the only known barrier beach system in North America where White Cedars grow.

Conservation Land 3

8 Duncan Lane
This .15 acre of beech trees, and maple grove were donated to the Conservation Trust in May of 1998 by Sally, Gillis Amanda and Timothy Kallen.

53 Howland Street
This 1.05 acre maple swamp was donated in June 2018 by the Paul R Silva Tr., Elizabeth Nominee Trust. It borders the Old Colony Nature Trail and Howland Street.

386 Route 6 / Race Point Rd
This parcel plus four others which make up the two corners at the intersection of Race Rd and Rt 6 include 1.73 acres of pond front, dune, and fresh marsh. These parcels were donated by Dolores C. Roderick in 1985, Natale D. Roderick in 1992 and 1994 and the estate of Mary Hopwood in 1994.

56 Creek Road
This Swamp, Shrub and Pine Forest parcel was donated to the Provincetown Conservation Trust in June 2001 by C&H Publishing Co of Danville, Vermont.

26 Aunt Sukies Way
This maple swamp parcel was donated to the Provincetown Conservation Trust in December 2001 by Miriam Collinson. It contains .32 acres of both upland and wetland and abuts the Hawthorne Wildlife Sanctuary.

56 Snail Road
This 1.86 acres of mostly wetland, was donated to the Provincetown Conservation Trust in 2018 by Carol and Joseph McCabe. The wetland abuts the protected Whistle Path Woods and is near the Old Colony Nature Pathway.

12 Pilgrim Heights Road
This 1.39 acre parcel along with several other similar areas were donated to The Provincetown Conservation Trust by Sumner E. Robinson in 1983.

48 Bradford Street Extension
This property spans nearly 2.2 acres and is a mostly scrub swamp of uplands and wetlands. The property was donated to the Provincetown Conservation Trust in February 1983 by Sumner E. Robinson.

25R Bradford Street
This wooded swamp area is 1.15 acres was donated by James K. Downey in October 1994.

2 Pilgrim Heights Road
This .38 acres of Heath Woods was donated to The Provincetown Conservation Trust by Sumner E. Robinson in 1983.

15 R Province Lands Road
This sloped land starts right at Province Lands Road and extends narrowly back to a wider woodland/wetland. The parcel encompasses about .25 acres of thick forest and rich wetlands. It was donated to the Conservation Trust by Alex L.L. Ritchie in January 2001.
